I've had this a year now. Forty-odd wears, machine washed every time on cold, hung to dry, never ironed once. No pilling, no fading at the shoulders where I expected it, and the seams are exactly where they started. The only change is that the linen has gone softer, which I'd count as an improvement. I'm writing this because I bought it partly on faith at a price I had to think about, and I'd want someone else to know it held up.

What people tell us after they have worn it, danced in it, washed it and worn it again.
4.6
I bought these six months postpartum when nothing fit and I was tired of feeling like I was borrowing my own clothes. The high waist sits above everything and doesn't dig in anywhere, and the fabric has enough weight that it hangs instead of clinging. They're the first thing since that made me feel like myself rather than like I was managing a situation, and I wore them three days running the first week. I've since bought two more colours.
soft, moves, doesn't ride up. sold
the spin. that's it. that's the review
I am not a dancer. I bought this because it looked like it would survive a Texas summer and it does. It's the only thing I own that I can put on at 8am and still be comfortable in at 10pm, through a work day and dinner afterwards. The fabric is genuinely lovely, heavier than it looks in photos, which I mean as a compliment.
simple, soft, perfect. no notes
Six hours at the Lisbon zouk congress and I never once thought about what I was wearing. That is the whole review, honestly. The fabric doesn't grab when someone's hand slides across your back, it doesn't ride up when you go into a cambre, and it had dried out between the workshop and the social. I have three dance dresses I keep meaning to sell now.
Bought this at the Berlin pop-up. Being able to try three sizes on in a room, instead of ordering all three and returning two, is worth a lot.
I dance contemporary and I have spent an embarrassing amount of money looking for a body that doesn't gape at the neckline the moment I'm inverted. This is it. The cut sits close enough at the shoulder that nothing shifts when I go over, and the leg openings don't ride up either, which is the other thing nobody gets right. It's also the only one I own that I'm not quietly adjusting between pieces.
Bought them sceptically at this price and they have outlasted everything cheaper I own. Genuinely worth it.
I've been dancing zouk eight years and in all that time I've never owned a dress I didn't have to think about at some point in the night — the strap, the hem, the way it sits when someone's hand is on your back. This is the first one. I put it on before the social and then I genuinely did not think about it again until I was taking it off at home.
I bought this at the studio in Canggu and watched part of it being finished in the back. That changed how I feel about wearing it, honestly. It's the first piece of clothing I own where I know roughly how many hands touched it. It also happens to be the best thing I've ever danced in, but I'd have kept it either way.
Bought it as a gift for my sister and immediately ordered one for myself. Rare that that happens.
Wore it for a whole night social. Still looked like a shirt at 4am, which is not normal.
The linen is a different thing entirely when you can feel it first.
I sweat a lot and this is the first body that doesn't go transparent when I do. Small thing. Huge thing.
Ecstatic dance on a Sunday morning and these are the only thing I want to be wearing. Loose enough to disappear, structured enough that I'm not holding them up.
best pants ive owned for dancing. no exagerration
Tried these on at a stall in Amsterdam, bought them, wore them to the zouk social that night. Straight from the bag to the floor and they were perfect.
Under everything, all the time now. It doesn't roll down at the waist when you're being led into anything low, which every other body I own does within one song.
Being able to try it on made all the difference, I'd have ordered the wrong size online. The woman there sized me in about ten seconds and she was right.
Got it at the Barcelona market stall. Wearing it right now.
The pants are very good for zouk, the movement is beautiful when you turn. Only thing, the waist is a little high for me, but after two nights I stopped noticing it.
Very good quality. I wear almost every day.
I ordered without much hope because I am difficult to fit. It arrived and it was correct the first time. This never happens to me.
I ordered these a size up because I read somewhere that they run small, and honestly I should have trusted my normal size — they sit lower on the waist than they should and I've had to take them in. Still, they are gorgeous. The way they move when you're turning is the reason I bought them and that part delivered completely. I've since ordered the black in my usual size. If you're between sizes, go with the smaller one.
Wear it under everything for aerial. Doesn't budge.
Bought three of these. In 40 degree heat they are the only thing that works and still looks like you tried.
four hour zouk social, zero restriction. done deal
Bachata every weekend in these. They breathe.
I came to Bali after a hard year and I bought this dress on a whim on my second day. I ended up wearing it to the ceremony at the end of the retreat, and to dinner most nights, and on the plane home. I'm aware that is a lot of feeling to put on a dress. But some clothes arrive at the right moment and this one did.
I teach four nights a week and these are the only pants that have survived a full month without the knees going. Light enough that I'm not dying in a hot room either.
I saw it at the pop-up in Madrid and I was not planning to buy anything. Now it is the thing I wear under everything.
Perfect for class. Nothing to fix.
Ordered it for a holiday, wore it every evening, came home and kept wearing it. The best sort of holiday purchase, the one that survives the return home.
Packs flat, doesn't need an iron, looks sharp at a social. That's the whole job.
Picked it up at a market stall in Ubud and wore it more or less continuously for the rest of the trip. Two years later it's still the shirt I reach for.
I travel for work constantly and this rolls into a bag and comes out fine. That is a genuinely short list of shirts.
Bought it for zouk, ended up wearing it to my sister's wedding. Same skirt, completely different outfit.
Second one. The first has been through a year of zouk socials and about forty washes and it still looks new, so I stopped hesitating on the second.
I bought this after I saw a girl wearing it at a festival in Lisbon and I could not stop looking at how it moved on her. Now I understand why. It is the weight of the fabric, it falls instead of flying, so when you do the head movement it follows you a half second late. Very hard to explain but every dancer will know what I mean.
Bought it at a festival. Wear it constantly now.
Light, breathes, looks good. In this heat that's everything.
Perfect for summer here. Bought two.
Move with you, not against you. Exactly what I needed for zouk nights.
Tried it on at the shop and bought it immediately. Only thing I would change is the waistband, it could sit a little higher.
Really like these. Got hit with a customs charge on delivery that I wasn't expecting, which isn't the brand's fault, but worth knowing if you're ordering to the US.
Honest review from someone who has bought a lot of dance clothes that looked good and danced badly. This one does both. The slit is high enough to actually move and low enough that I'm not managing it all night. Three socials and a beach party so far and it has been through the wash every time without losing its shape.
Bought at a festival stall. Great pants. My only note is that I wish they'd had more sizes on the rail, there wasn't much left by Sunday.
I teach a movement class twice a week and I'm on the floor constantly, kneeling and sliding and getting back up, so I am genuinely hard on clothes and most of them show it inside a season. This skirt has been rolled into a bag, sat on, danced in and washed weekly for four months and the hem is exactly as it was the day it arrived. No pulled threads, no sag at the waist. I don't say that about much.
good shirt, fits well. sleeves a bit long on me but i have short arms so
Bought for a trip to Thailand. Wore basically nothing else.
Bought at a market in Ubud without knowing the brand. Got home to Berlin and immediately ordered two more things online. Now I'm the person telling everyone at my zouk class about it.
Wore it to a Tuesday zouk social not expecting much and I've worn it every week since. It's the drape. Nothing else I own falls like this.
The linen becomes softer after each wash, it is very nice. I ordered a second in another colour.
Bought at a zouk congress. Best purchase of the weekend.
linen that doesn't look like a wrinkled mess after one song. finally
Bought a pair, went back the next week for a second.
I feel like I'm floating when I dance in it.
Perfect for the heat here. Wash it, hang it, done.
I bought these for zouk and now I wear them to work. The waistband is the thing, it sits and stays, so I'm not adjusting anything between songs.
Ordered it for a wedding abroad and it was the right call. Packed flat, no iron, looked considered.
I want to be fair here. The dress is genuinely lovely and the fabric is better than anything I've found at this price, and I've looked. But I'm 1.80m and it sits shorter on me than the photos suggest, so I wear it with something underneath, which is not what I had in mind when I ordered it. If you're tall, size up or plan for that from the start. Everything else about it is right, and I'd buy it again knowing what I know.
Buy it in person if you can. The drape is a completely different thing on the body than it looks on a hanger.
The packaging was lovely, which I don't normally notice. There was a handwritten note in it. Small thing, but it landed.
Not see-through, which was my only worry ordering it. Moves properly and doesn't ride up when my arms go over my head.
Beautiful skirt. Slightly sheer in direct sun, so I wear a slip under it.
Picked it up at a pop-up and the person who sold it to me explained how it's made. I don't normally care about that and somehow I did.
Shirt is nice quality but the colour was noticeably darker than the photos. Kept it because the fit is good.
Thank you Aleks. You're right that the terra reads deeper in daylight than our studio shots showed, and that colourway has been reshot. Email us if you'd still like to exchange it.
lovely thing. wish they did more colours
Bachata socials, three nights a week. These have outlasted two pairs that cost more.
I bought two dresses at the Canggu studio and they are beautiful. The only reason this isn't five stars is that I asked about a colour they had hanging on the rail and it turned out to be a one-off from an old run, which was a bit deflating when I'd already decided on it. Small batches cut both ways, I suppose.
realy good shirt. bought a second one
realy nice top, good price for the quality
I am dancing zouk since three years and this is my favourite top now. It stays in place when the arms go up, which sounds small but is not small.
The dress is beautiful and I want to love it, and on the hanger it is everything I hoped for. But mine arrived with a loose thread at the side seam that had already started to open, and I had to sit down and fix it myself before I could wear it. Customer service answered quickly and offered a replacement, which was decent of them. I just didn't want to wait another three weeks, so I kept it and mended it.
Selin, that shouldn't have left us and we're sorry. The offer stands whenever you want it, and there is a credit on your account either way.
Tried on, fell in love, wore it out of the shop.
Bought at the Lisbon event and I'm really happy with it. The linen creases more than I expected, but that is linen and I knew that going in.
Very beautiful top and the linen is soft, not scratchy like other linen I have. For me it is a little short on the body, I am tall. But I wear it high waisted so it is fine.
For contemporary class these are perfect. They do not stick to the leg when you are sweating, which is the problem with everything else I tried.
I bought this for my husband and he has worn it every week for a year. He is not a man who cares about clothes and he has mentioned this shirt to me more than once, which I think tells you something. The quality is obvious when you handle it. It isn't fast fashion and you can feel that in about three seconds.
Didn't work for me. It rolled down at the waist within an hour and I spent the evening pulling at it. Sending it back.
Robin, sorry this one missed. The body is cut close and it will roll if it's a size under, so the return is the right call. If you want to try the size up we'll cover the postage both ways.
Bought this for the cold flight home and it's now my most-worn thing. Soft in a way that survived the wash.
Nice top, good for dancing. I wish there is more colours.
Lovely top, but the sizing chart didn't match what arrived, a full size out. The exchange was quick and painless at least.
Freya, thank you. You found a real error in the zig-zag chart and it has been corrected on the page. Glad the exchange was smooth.
Fits how a shirt should fit. Nothing more to say.
Lovely top. Would have bought a second colour but they only had the one at the stall.
Good hoodie. Runs a touch big, I'd size down.
Throw it on after a sweaty social and it's perfect. Soft.
realy good shirt, better then i expected for the money
I buy this at the small market and the quality is much better than the price. The stitching is very neat, you can see it is made carefully.
Good shirt. Took a while to arrive, but that's a long way to ship from.
Well made, but shorter than I expected from the photos. I'll wear them, just not everywhere.
Rin, that's fair. The raw short is cut short by design and the photos are on a taller frame, which flatters the length. We're adding the inseam measurement to the page.
Good shorts, fair price. Shipping was slow.
Solid. Pockets are useful at a social, which sounds dull until you've had nowhere to put your phone all night.
Nice hoodie, colour is deeper in person than online. I prefer it, actually.
Didn't work for me at all. Much shorter in the body than I expected and the fit was wrong through the shoulders. The return was straightforward, at least.
Ellie, sorry this one missed. The broca is cut shorter than the rest of the contour line and that isn't clear enough on the page. We're fixing it. Thank you for telling us.
Beautiful skirt, exactly as pictured. Took about three weeks to arrive though and I nearly missed the zouk festival I bought it for. Worth the wait, but plan ahead.
Good shorts. Wish they did a longer inseam.
Arrived quickly and fits as described. I found it sat oddly on me through the hip though. I think it's cut for a straighter shape than mine.
Iris, thank you. The elvina is cut straight through the hip and it doesn't suit everyone. The playa in the same weight is cut fuller if you'd like to try it, and we'll take this one back either way.
Festival stall purchase. The best kind.
The silk is lovely but it is more delicate than I want for a night out, I've already snagged it once. That's partly on me for buying silk to dance in, but worth saying to anyone considering it.
Tomas, that's a fair warning and we'd rather it was said. The silk is cut for dinner more than for a floor. The hebra in the same shape takes far more of a beating if you want to swap.
Works in the heat, no complaints there. But a button came off in the second week and I had to sew it back on.
Owen, thank you for saying so. A button going in two weeks is a fault, not wear. Send us a note and we'll put it right, and the run it came from has been checked.
Great shorts for a hot studio. Only note is the drawstring came loose in the wash the first time and I had to re-thread it. Annoying, not fatal.
Softest thing I own. The cuffs stretched a bit after a few washes though.
Wore it every day of a retreat and loved it, but the colour has faded noticeably since. I line-dry it now, which I probably should have done from the start.
Ida, the sol dyes are plant-based and they will shift in strong sun, which we should say more loudly on the page than we do. Line-drying in shade is exactly right. Thank you for the honest note.
Ordered my usual size and it arrived enormous, nothing like the measurements listed. Returned it. Disappointing, because I'd waited for it.
Georgia, you were right and the chart was wrong. It has been corrected since. Sorry it cost you the wait.
Lovely. Wrinkles fast, but it's linen, so that's on me.
Good top. Sizing runs small, I'd order up.
Very good shirt, the fabric is beautiful. I am happy.
